Congratulations to Beverly in Utah and Laurie in California. I’ll be mailing out your QA issues next week!
Dave and I just returned from a wonderful week in Colorado. I’m anxious to tell you about it and some of what inspired me while there, but while I was gone the new issue of Quilting Arts came in the mail with my article on Ice Dyeing with Resists.
Since I have my own subscription and they send me several extra issues, I’d like to give two copies away. In addition to my article, there is so much to learn and be inspired from this issue. See giveaway information below.
Here are some of my fabrics. These first three pieces are using the Lumi Cleanline Resist. It doesn’t give a strong a resist due to all of the melted ice water that sits on it, but still gives a nice, almost muted, background. I’ve used this resist before. You can see how I used it here.
Then we have the soy wax pieces. The first and third pieces are made with potato mashers. The middle piece’s design is made with a can dipped in the wax.
But my favorite of all of the soy wax ones was this one. I used a paint brush to apply wax and then ice dyed with Raspberry and Forest Green. I love how the colors broke out so nicely.
Now for the giveaway: All you need to do is comment on this post. Be sure to leave an email for me to get back with you to get your address. I will be picking the winners by random.org. Due to the high costs of postage, this giveaway is only good for those in the US and Canada. Deadline to comment is Friday, September 25.
See you soon with some inspiration from Colorado and some news on my upcoming classes. Thanks for dropping by.
