Wow! What a busy week. Here are some highlights.
We planted two new cherry trees and put cages around them to keep the deer away. Of the two left from when we planted them several years ago, one was dead so we dug it up. Now we have one we planted five or so years ago that we will get a few cherries from (I’m hoping enough for at least a cobbler), and then these two we planted this week. Cherry trees are slow growing so it will be a long time before we get many cherries.
The view outside my window.
Here is a closeup of the blossoms on this tree.
What a surprise this morning – our viburnum planted several years ago bloomed for the first time. Yeah! Wish you could smell this!
I hurried last week to get the hostas out front mulched before they came up. They almost grow right before my eyes! They will be beautiful until about July and then they get burned up by the hot sun so I enjoy them now.
The lemon balm is up just in time for me to make some more Lemon Balm Lavender Bugs Off Spray. I love this stuff and it really works.
For those of you who have just joined my blog, for several years I posted an iris count on my blog. I won’t do it this year, but you will see some of the different ones as they bloom. Here is another of the dwarf irises I moved to the front bed.
Even though it was my week to cook, Dave assisted me and grilled up some of the asparagus I’ve been harvesting. Yummy!
I have been able to sneak in some art playtime. I tried a new surface design technique. I’ll blog about it later.
And the Intuitive Painting class I’m taking at the library is pretty interesting and was a bit out of my comfort zone. Well, not a little bit – it was waaaaay out of my comfort zone, but I’m feeling better about it. I will post about it soon too.
The weather has been beautiful but cold. Don’t know what kind of winter it is right now. Mom used to say when these cold spells happened that it was blackberry or dogwood winter. I’d get so tired of them and she’d keep coming up with another winter name. It’s not Blackberry since they aren’t blooming. We don’t have any of the regular dogwoods, so I don’t know it that’s it but regardless its cold!! Hope your Sunday is going well and as always, thanks for checking in here.
