When marbling last week I found that I could get different looks by playing with the thickened water bath. To demonstrate this and to equal the playing field, I used three pieces of white muslin. See my original marbling tutorial here.
I used the same colors and started with the same pattern as close as was possible. The first one would be the circles. The following examples are still wet. The photos were taken right after they were pulled from the bath.
Then I decided to try to duplicate that design as best I could.
Now I took my skewer and moved the circles – attempting to create hearts.
Now the print from that bath.
Then one more try, but this time I moved the paint for a more traditional marbled look.
And the print from that bath.
Now a side-by-side comparison.
Which is your favorite? I really like all three, but lean toward the hearts. I’d like to work more with that. But there is still more to tell you about. I’d love to see your marbling if you decide to try this. Thanks again for taking the time to read my posts.
