I just have to share with you a blessing I received this week. It was wonderful after all of the sadness that we’ve all experienced since last Friday.
Two years ago I taught one of my “Writing Your Story” classes at a local university. I blogged about the class on this post. Below are a few pages from mine.
This week I met with one of my students, Mary, who actually finished her story. And she gave me a copy!
Now this is a book!
I absolutely love all of the pictures on both the front and the back of this book.
Inside are 174 pages of stories and pictures – so priceless for her large family to cherish long after she’s gone, but also helpful for them to know her better while she’s here. What a gift she’s given her family.
However, she still has stories to tell and she’s talking about a cookbook with stories. That will be wonderful! I’m looking forward to reading that one too.
It was a lovely day. We had lunch at a local restaurant in her town and then spent time at her home eating some of her yummy cookies and talking about our families. What a gift she gave me that day – not just the lovely book but the opportunity to spend time with this interesting lady.

Wow! Now that does look great! What a wonderful legacy Mary has left. I wish I would’ve thought to do something like this for my grandmother while she still had her wits about her. Alzheimer’s has stolen all her stories. I’m sure her family will and does treasure this! Go Mary!

This class is exactly what I have been looking for! My aunt & I have tons of old photos and she has been saving the stories of our family. Would you consider doing an online class sometime this year? Please,please consider doing so.

Love this post on artists’ book. I’m thinking hard about this too with my own art and/or family story or both. The last 2 years I’ve created photo journals as gifts for my 2 baby grandsons’ birthday to relive their past year. Also I did one for my sister with her English Garden flowers and yard goodies she had sitting around and started a new one this year. Unfortunately she passed away 3 months ago pretty suddenly and I never got to do it for her. (I will do hers for sure). I use Walmart photo maker and they turned out great! I’d like to know what company printed hers. Thank you for ALL the fantastic art info you share!!! I’ll never get anything done if I don’t stop reading your blog and close my iPad! Have a blessed day!
