As I said yesterday about Sew Wild, Alisa Burke’s new book, she really inspired me to try some of her techniques. This is one she demonstrated on her DVD.
I started with some fabric from my stash. I still like this fabric after making a wallhanging out of it years ago, but probably won’t use it again.
Then I painted areas with yellow acrylic paint.
When Alisa was showing how to do this on the DVD I wondered how she was going to make this look right with these big sploches of paint. I kept thinking, this isn’t going to work!
Once the paint has dried, you cover the entire surface with text or drawing or whatever you like to do. So I did that.
It’s pretty wild and the process really pushed me in a direction I wouldn’t have taken. Here it is close up.
This fabric could be used in a variety of projects including cutting it up and working with small pieces of the design. Not sure what I’ll do with it yet. Loved the process! This was an easy technique with interesting results.
And if you are wondering about the Live, Swim and Drink – that was inspired by the following quote:
The background of the quote is on a scan of small portion of my ice dyed fabric. That quote is part of an upcoming project I’ll share with you soon.
